About Us:
David Hegg- Group Leader
David Hegg is a
Mechanical Engineering student at Florida State University graduating in May 2015. His area of interest is in
the aerospace industry where he is currently gaining experience as a research assistant at the
Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion. Along with that
experience, he also interned as a manufacturing engineer at Arthrex and
as a reliability engineer at Gerdau over the past two summers.
In his spare time, David enjoys sports and outdoor activities
such as hunting and fishing.
Christopher Bergljung- Mechanical Engineering Lead
Christopher Bergljung is a senior Mechanical Engineer at
Florida State University who plans to graduate in May 2015. In Fall
2014, Christopher took part in the FIPSE study abroad program
between
two
schools in Brazil and FSU. Christopher is studying advanced vibrational
systems and
engineering design at UNIFEI, one of the most prestigious engineering
universities located in Itajuba, Brazil. Christopher hopes that by
completing
the study abroad program it will equip him with many other skills that
he
wouldn’t have obtained otherwise. Christopher believes that
these new skills, as
well as the skills he has already acquired from his three years of
interning in
Sweden will help him be the best engineer in a growing global
engineering
market. Most of Christopher’s experience is in the Marine
Engineering fields with
a focus on non-destructive testing and product safety, and he plans to
broaden
his mechanical abilities with the autonomous aerial vehicle senior
design
project. In his free time Chris plays basketball and lacrosse and loves
being
on the water.
Jermaine
Dickey- Programming Lead
Jermaine was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida and a
graduate of Lawton Chiles High School. In his early years, he loved
playing with Legos and attempted to build anything and everything with
them. During his high school years, he participated in Mr.
Crowe’s Engineering Tech class which solidified what track he
would take in life. Using acquired knowledge and problem solving skills
to find solutions to previous, existing, and future applications are
what drives Jermaine. He knows that Robotic/Mechatronic Controls are
what he wants to do with his future career. Jermaine is currently
employed with the National High Magnetic Field Lab as a student
researcher doing research on superconducting magnets. Now a
senior at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, he is at the
doorway of his dream of becoming a Mechanical Engineer.
William
Di Scipio- Secretary
William Di Scipio is a 4th year Mechanical Engineering Senior who will
be graduating in May of 2015. During his enrollment at Florida State
University he has developed his passions and expertise for aerospace
and dynamic systems. Furthermore, he has maintained involvement in
various engineering based organizations, such as SAE and AIAA, as well
as research on macrofiber composites for FCAAP. Outside of school he
further ensures his professional development by holding a weekly job in
customer service at a Fortune 500 company. In his free time William
partakes in repairing and maintaining his motorcycle, repairing his
electronic devices, reading, and fitness.
Gavarni
Leonce- Electrical Engineering Lead
Gavarni Leonce is senior electrical engineering student at the Florida
State University. As one of only two electrical engineers on Team 8,
Gavarni has a large role in the completion of the project. In addition
to electrical engineering, he is interested in becoming a software
engineer. Upon graduation, Gavarni would like to stay for another
year to acquire a degree in computer engineering. In his free
time, he enjoys weightlifting and watching his favorite sports teams.
John
Murnane- Web Designer
John is a Mechanical Engineering student at Florida State University,
projected to graduate in May 2015. He also took part in the
FIPSE study abroad program, an exchange program between FSU and two
partner schools in Brazil. John spent the first semester of this
project studying at UNIFEI, a prestigious engineering university in
Itajuba, Brazil. John enjoys the opportunity he has been given to
travel and looks to apply his international experience to his future
work. Over past summers, John has had five consecutive internships with
a medical manufacturing company; gaining experience in reverse
engineering, quality assurance, automation, product design, and many
other aspects of real-world engineering. Outside of school, John is an
avid fisherman.
Tavarius
Slaughter- Treasurer
Tavarius Slaughter is an Electrical Engineering student at Florida
State University, set to graduate in May 2015. Over this past summer he
gained an interest in the power industry as he interned for a fortune
500 company, PPL Corporation, as a transmission design engineer.
Aside from being a student; Tavarius works two jobs, he is the Keeper
of Finance of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, and an active
mentor in the community. In his spare time, Tavarius enjoys playing
basketball, football, and being with friends.
