4-Bar Linkage
Shown above is the linkage system that will move the plate. The ram connecting the two links will be responsible for moving the top link from its initial resting position to an angle that will allow the plate to clear the side of the RIDFT chamber. The long link will connect to a drive shaft which connects another linkage system on the opposite side. The same linkage will be used to lift the second plate with matching linkages on both sides.
RIDFT
Shown above is the RIDFT with the linkage drive motors in place. On either end there are holes in the base which show where the bearing blocks will be installed. The drive shaft will run along the length of the interior of the bottom frame and connect to the motor using gears. The motors are mounted in the base to increase the stability of the system when the plates have been removed and are resting in their final position.
