Concept Plan A (Original)

Plan A Details

If following last years apprach all need to do finish the magnet design. The entire apparatus is complete except for the magnet. The magnet calculations must be checked and then the magnet must be wrapped in H.T.S. (High Temperature Super-Conductive) wire

Plan A Advantages

Little Manufacturing is needed because every part except the magnet is complete, which saves time and not having to reinvent the wheel. The disadvantage is it much more expensive per pound of actuator force.

    Plan B (Full Redesign)

There are two similar redesigns to be considered. Both utilize universal electromagnetic actuators to activate the design switch

Plan B1 (Direct Actuation)

Plan B1 Advantages

This was the simplest design with the least stress and fatigue calculations. This choice costs the lease of all three designs. it has the potential to be used in many different situations with little to no modification.

Plan B2 (Universal w/ Adapter )

Plan B2 Advantages

A universal design that can easily adapter to different situations. Like the original design the power source and adapters are below the system. Most of the stress and fatigue would affect the bottom of the system where maintenance access is the easiest.

Future of the Project

A team meeting with the customer to pitch new designs. If given approval by the customer, plan B calculations and calibration to specification will begin. If plan B is not approved, plan A detail will be continued.
