Thermal Test Description
The primary goal of the thermal test is to compare the real world results gained from our test model against the theoretical model which was developed during the design phase of the project. To accomplish this goal, a test was designed to record the behavior of the column within an environment which simulates the working conditions of the super magnet.
The User Manual describes the exact procedure for accomplishing the task of acquiring the data and the equipment necessary for this acquisition. It also includes a description of the expected pattern of data (i.e. temperature profile) for the test.
Structural Test Description
The primary goal of the structural test is to compare the buckling resistance of the model column when subjected to a load. To accomplish this goal, the structural strength test was designed to record the behavior of the column when subjected to a load which is proportional in stress to those seen within the magnet.
The User Manual describes the exact procedure for accomplishing the task of acquiring the data and the equipment necessary for this acquisition. It also includes a description of the expected performance of the column under compression.
It must be noted that no experiments had been performed as of the time of publication of this website. Updates may be made to display the data gathered from those tests on this site, but at present time only the expected data can be used to describe our system.
