The small size of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the College of Engineering at its inception has required considerable effort on services by each faculty member. I have played a significant part in that, since I recognize the need for such services both inside and outside the University.
I have set up most of the departmental computer equipment. I have upgraded our departmental MicroVAX I to a MicroVAX II, installed all software on our second MicroVAX II, and provided for our word processing and graphics capabilities. I have further assisted in setting up the work stations in our design lab.
I have chaired the departmental Committee on Computer Equipment.
I am serving on the departmental Graduate Committee.
I have served on the Faculty Search Committee.
I have served briefly on the departmental Promotion and Tenure Committee.
I have been in charge of supplies.
I have been involved with the ASME student section, and acted as judge in the award of a $1,000.00 prize.
I have served on the Committees on Scholarship and Awards.
I have served on the Curriculum Committee.
I have served on the College Policy Committee.
I have served on the Computer Committee since its inception, acting as its secretary for one semester.
I have served on the University Grievance Committee.
I am serving on the Engineering Mathematics Courses Committee.
I have participated in the Faculty-to-Faculty Articulation Visits to Regional Community/Junior Colleges.
I have participated in the University Telephone Recruitment Campaign.
I participate each year in the Capital Region Science Fair.
I have presented a short refresher course in numerical methods at the Department of Transportation in Tallahassee.
I have been organizer for the United Way Fund drive for the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
