Team 516 of the FAMU-FSU Department of Mechanical Engineering is designing a compact device to enhance suturing, aiming to maximize operating room and surgical efficiency. This innovation updates the overall process of wound closure, reducing surgical time by up to 40 minutes and potentially saving thousands of dollars per hour in operating costs. Our device ensures precise suturing while minimizing surgeon fatigue. Our plan is to integrate this device into existing surgical workflow and offer an ergonomic design for user comfort and agility. With its potential reliability and efficiency, this project will make a significant leap forward in surgical technology, promising improved outcomes for both patients and medical professionals.
