TEAM MEETINGS LOG SHEET
Project Name: NASA
Team #: 13
Meeting #: 2
Date: 9/11/2008
Discussions:
- We
finally received our project and began our discussions
- We
were given copies of the “packet”
- At
first the discussion started towards the initial shock at the difficulty
of the project. And then we began trying to figure out what this could be
asking. Also, we discussed whether we think that we will be asked to
compete in the competition, if we need to follow competition rules, and if
we don’t go to the competition will we have to have our robot perform as
if it would be in the competition.
- We
also discussed George’s conversation with Dr. Shih about the sponsor
issues. Basically we figured Dr Shih will be our sponsor but NASA still
has a chance to come in a take over and still might, if so our budget will
increases and therefore the options will be increased.
- We
also brainstormed and put together a list of questions to ask Dr. Shih and
wrote them up to bring with us to the meeting that was also scheduled from
3pm on 9/12
- We
discussed the three big design categories that will have to be gotten
through. First is the computer: camera, transmission, and programming
issues. Second are the mechanical issues: getting it to flap and hover and
be under budget are two very big issues. Third is the miniaturization
aspect: making it move, transmit, and be a kilo and small.
- We
also talked about joining AIAA to get access to their materials and
discounts for this project.
- We
also discussed our small budget and which labs on campus might have the
appropriate equipment we could use and to start asking now for access of
information, these include the magnetics lab,
the CAPS lab, Dr. Clark’s robotics lab, and the composites lab.
Deliverables:
List of questions to ask our sponsor
Comments/Suggestions:
This will be a very interesting project but one of the
hardest possible
It will be a lot of work and hopefully the meeting with our
sponsor will clear things up and we will be able to catch up to the other
groups and get ahead of schedule.
