Who Are We?
Each year, the FSU/FAMU College of Engineering seeks out companies and individuals to sponsor design projects for graduating seniors.
Some of the skills acquired by students fall in the traditional areas of Mechanical Engineering: Thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid
dynamics, solid mechanics, materials, 3-D CAD, etc. However, there also some skills, not necessarily technical in nature, that are
required to have a successful career. These include: team-oriented mentality, problem solving, project planning and control, management
and writing skills, etc.
For this project, Dr. Lonnie Draper, chairman of Avocare, has challenged us to build a radical new solar thermal water heating system.
Dr. Draper has a vision of a system that in not only robust, but is also very affordable.
