Before testing could begin, the bolts were preloaded to their specifications sent by Cummins. Four tests were set up, two for the connecting rod and two for the main bearing cap. The first connecting rod and main bearing cap samples were tested in both compression and tension. The second connecting rod and main bearing cap samples were only tested in tension.
