A total of 10 design concepts were done. Out of the ten, one design was chosen for the connecting rod and one was chosen for the main bearing cap.
Machining
Dimensions of the MTS machine were taken in order to fit the fixture properly to the testing machine. Engineering drawings of the final designs were then made and taken to Holmes Tool & Engineering (Bonifay, Fl) to be made. Connecting rod samples and engine block samples were also taken to be machined down to fit within the MTS machine and fixtures.
