The Florida Space Research Institute (FSRI) is offering an opportunity for 3-5 Florida college/university  students to participate in an aerospace-oriented multimedia technology development program at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia.  The opportunity will include hands-on skills development for students with an interest in multimedia and web-based development tools such as Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Authorware, Macromedia Shockwave, Cult 3D, and 3-D Studio Max.

The students will apply the latest multimedia technologies to the domain of aerospace education, creating interactive instructional visualizations and simulations. During the course of the program and at its conclusion, students will prepare actual instructional assets for incorporation into FSRI's Advanced Learning Environment --a web-based learning portal for the aerospace industry.

FSRI will provide a stipend for the program, travel and expenses.

4/09/02 Geotechnical & Materials Testing firm needs Staff/Project Engineer for Ft. Pierce branch office.  This 12-person branch was established 30 years ago and has a wide range of clients from public and private sectors.  Projects include oceanfront high rises, bridges, subdivisions, commercial businesses, schools and mansions.  The office has both SPT and Cone Penetrometer (CPT) drill rigs and a certified lab at its disposal.

The position will include organizing drilling activities, site reconnaissance, soil classification, analyzing field data, drafting geotechnical reports, assisting with pile load tests and supervising pile installation.  This is a great opportunity for exposure with responsibility to many facets of geotechnical engineering, especially using CPT data.

Description:  Hydrologist/Civil Engineer with an emphasis in ground and surface water modeling.  The position requires direct interaction with the client to assist with an assortment of model adaptation, review and development tasks. 
Education: BS or MS in Engineering, Hydrology or other related field.
Required Skills: Four to six years of work experience (2-4 years with Ph.D.) Must have surface and/or ground water modeling experience. Detail-oriented. Good written and oral communication skills. 
Desired Skills: Experience with MODFLOW/MODBRANCH.  Familiarity with South Florida Water Management Model (SFWMM), South Florida geology and Everglades Restoration issues.  Familiar with the development of modeling related GUIs, including adaptation of pre and post-processing COTS.

Prepares and maintains transmission line designs and standards, project schedules, and budgets. Monitors transmission line design work performed by consulting firms. Creates grading plans, structural steel analysis, and other civil engineering activities in support of substation design.
